Learning about the life stories of people from history is inspiring and affirming, it plants a seed of greatness. We love teaching our pupils about artists, people who have given their lives to creativity. Here are a few pieces inspired by
Frida Kahlo, Gustav Klimt, Henri Matisse, Edward Tinga Tinga and Wassily Kandinsky.

Creating self portraits is all part of developing a positive self image. Here is a range of creations from toddlers to year three. A wide range of materials and mediums have been used to suit the developing skills. The children are able to capture the esscence of who they are with a total lack of inhibition!

Spring is here! We have immersed ourselves with spring themed art and we loved walking in beautiful Bridgevale Valley @envirofixersdurbannorth, with our school families. Now for some spring planting in our community garden 🌸❤️

We celebrated Maria Montessori's 154th birthday on Saturday 31 August. She opened her first school, the Casa dei Bambini, in Rome in 1907. The method is of increasing relevance for today's children.
The focus on learning through movement and the senses, developing independence and self esteem, promoting thinking skills and creativity all give an excellent foundation for all academic learning. The attention given to social and emotional development promote the growth of EQ. Learning to tread lightly on the planet and education for sustainability is woven throughout the curriculum.

We are so looking forward to celebrating with Ocean View Families past and present on Saturday 31 August for our Annual Spring Walk followed by our Big Birthday Circle and Art Exhibition.
It also happens to be Maria Montessori's Birthday too!! The great lady would have been 154!
